Now, a source tells PEOPLE that the two are doing well after Hewitt's "unexpected hiccup"

A source exclusively tells PEOPLE that the comedian, 32, and his model girlfriend, 29, are finding their footing in the week after Hewitt had her wisdom tooth extracted just one day after giving birth to Scottie Rose.
"Elsie is doing really well now and feeling so much better since having the tooth taken care of," the insider says. "It was an unexpected hiccup right after the delivery, but she handled it like a champ and has been focused on resting and soaking in these first moments with the baby."

"Being home has been really special for them," the source continues. "They're settling into a rhythm, taking everything day by day and just enjoying getting to know their daughter. It's been a lot of firsts, but it's a really happy, exciting time for both of them."
They also shared that the couple is navigating this new chapter together and leaning on each other in the early stages of parenthood. "They've very much in it together," adds the source. "They've both learning as they go, supporting each other and feeling grateful as they step into this new chapter as parents."

On Dec. 19, Hewitt shared a selfie of herself and her daughter on her Instagram Stories of them pictured in the back of a car following her dental surgery. She sarcastically commented on the experience, asking if anyone else had to go through that.
"who else had to get a wisdom tooth removed directly from the hospital the day after they gave birth" she wrote over the photo.

The Saturday Night Live alum and his girlfriend welcomed their first baby together on Friday, Dec. 12, before sharing the news on Instagram nearly a week later on Dec. 18.
"my best work yet, i am absolutely overflowing with love and gratitude and disbelief," Hewitt captioned the post, which featured a photo of the couple holding their newborn, while Davidson added, "wu tang forever."
The post included several intimate photos of the comedian and the model with their baby. The couple kept Scottie's face private by putting a white heart emoji over her face in each photo.
Scottie is named after Davidson's late father, Scott Matthew Davidson, a New York City firefighter who died while responding to the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, when Davidson was 7. Rose is Hewitt's middle name.
