Martha Stewart knows what she likes.
The lifestyle mogul, 84, is partial to certain home décor aspects, and there's one that she says has been a mainstay in all of her homes (including current places in Bedford, N.Y., and in Maine).
"I have always had a footed bathtub in my house — every house I've ever had," Stewart tells PEOPLE. "It's like a soaking tub, and even though I don't lie in it with candlelight and Champagne every night — I don't have time for that — I do take baths all the time."
Stewart goes on to say she likes "simple" and "classic" designs when it comes to outfitting her home. One of the brands she's turned to again and again for her bathrooms is Kohler, a brand known for its craftsmanship and timeless pieces.

The cookbook author has been working with Kohler for years and last year was named its Cast Iron Ambassador as a nod to the material the brand uses in many of its pieces. Kohler, founded in 1873 and based in Kohler, Wisc., is known for everything from its kitchen and bath products to even some wellness finds. As Stewart points out, the brand has a "standard of excellence" that she agrees with.
"They're an American icon," she says, nodding to a video she shot in the company's foundry. "The way their factories are organized, the way that they revere the past."

For the latest video and set of photos (lensed by Douglas Friedman), Stewart walks around the foundry and poses among the sleek products. It follows a previous shoot she did for the brand, where a tub was literally brought to her stable so she could pose among her horses.

Stewart jokes that her horses were "extremely well-behaved" for the photo shoot, adding, "They like posing for pictures. They feel very, very important."
"There was incredible enthusiasm around our announcement of Martha Stewart as Kohler Cast Iron Ambassador last year, and what viewers see in this next chapter is the continuation of a partnership journey grounded in shared principles of quality and authenticity,” said Scott Edmunds, SVP marketing, in a press release. “Cast iron is integral to Kohler's legacy and a powerful differentiator for our future growth so sharing the experience of crafting this sustainable and beautiful material through the discerning eye of Martha is a special opportunity.”
Stewart takes her decorating very seriously (she did build an entire brand around being a homemaker, after all). In 2022, she flew home from Oklahoma with eight massive trees in tow after being a part of Oklahoma State University's Business Speaker Series. That wasn't all, though. She also snagged a few vintage finds to bring home, as she wrote in an Instagram caption.
Her skills for design have also influenced many, including Kendall Jenner (who told Architectural Digest in 2024 that Stewart is on her "mood boards") and the late Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. According to Elizabeth Beller, who published the book Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, the former fashion publicist wanted cooking and decorating tips from Stewart. A 1996 Los Angeles Times story cited a source who said much the same.
